Malic acid is used for light-damaged or dry skin, and acne. Carnosine has been shown to act as an antioxidant by scavenging free radicals and singlet oxygen, thereby reducing oxidative stress. Carnosine can further reduce oxidative stress by chelating transition metals, such as copper and iron.
