Peptides of length between five and fifty residues have many applications in science research, diagnostic, cosmetic ( anti-aging, whitening, tanning, anti-wrinkle etc.), medicine (e.g. novel antimicrobials, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and cell penetrating peptides etc.) and industry (e.g. metal surface-binding and graphite-binding peptides). Solid phase synthesis is well suited to obtain small to medium amounts of peptides. Using peptide conjugates for drug delivery into the cell has been a topic of interest and there are many anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and neurodegenerative peptide conjugate drugs that are in clinical use or under investigation.
